How do I know if it's time to replace my siding?

What siding materials are available, and which do you recommend for Texas?

Can I put new siding over my existing siding?

Technically possible in some cases, but we generally recommend a full tear-off. Inspect caulk around windows, doors, and trim annually and touch up any gaps before water gets in. Plan to repaint every 10–15 years depending on the finish. That's about it — fiber cement is genuinely low-maintenance.

Can individual Hardie panels be replaced if one gets damaged?
